This study examines health care financing for twelve countries in Asia. Newly assembled data allow comparisons of total expenditures from all sources (government, insurance, and private out-of-pocket payments), a further breakdown of government spending between central and local units, trends in government spending since the mid 1970s, user fee experience in government systems, and coverage by insurance systems in the region.
