Cabo Verde is an archipelago of 10 islands located off the west coast of Africa. Nine of these islands are inhabited by approximately 500,000 inhabitants. The country has few natural resources and suffers from serious water shortages exacerbated by cycles of long-term drought, one of the main causes of emigration in Cabo Verde’s earlier history.
