Amazon wildfires trigger emergency project (Inglés)

During February and March 1998, accidental fires raged out of control in parts of the northern Amazon state of Roraima, a consequence of a pronounced drought brought on by El Nino combined with normal burning used by the local population to clear agriculture fields and pastures.
