Despite some improvements in recent years, overall access to quality infrastructure services has remained limited in Tajikistan. Tajikistan’s infrastructure is substandard, despite gradual improvements in the past 20 years. Inadequate infrastructure, particularly in energy and transport, has contributed to the high trade costs, restricting the country’s access to nearby markets, such as China and Afghanistan.
