II. SUMMARY OF PROJECT STATUS AND PROPOSED CHANGES

           IN 2nd Kerala Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (Jalanidhi II) (P121774)



 Prior to June 2018, the project was progressing well and was poised to close on current end date by completing most
 of the activities and fully utilizing IDA funds. But the state of Kerala experienced heavy rains from June to August; and
 severe floods at the end of August '18. This has not only damaged infrastructure under the project but also halted
 project implementation which makes it difficult to complete the project on time. The damaged schemes need urgent
 repairs and restoration to be brought back into service. The Government of Kerala, therefore, requested the Bank to
 extend the current end date by six months i.e. up to end of June 2019. DEA endorsed this request on Oct 22, 2018.
