Bangladesh Forest Department (BFD) has a fully operational Project Implementation Unit (PIU) with a full time Project Director (PD). A full-time Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) has been assigned in the PIU. Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) of 10 forest divisions are also in place who will be implementing the major part of the project. The DFOs conducted extensive survey and mapping activities to identify all parcels of degraded forest areas that will be treated under this project. Land Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR11600 preparation and nursery seedling production are in state of readiness to commence planting immediately in coastal areas but in hilly areas nursery production of seedlings will commence as mature seeds become available to allow planting from April/May of the 2014 monsoon season. Arannayk Foundation (AF) has advertised and short-listed NGOs for implementation of component 2- Alternative Livelihoods to Support Forest Communities - in the Southern region and the South-eastern region.
