Throughout this period, the Bank organized a workshop for knowledge exchange with the State of Ceará, where the SISAR (Rural Sanitation Integrated System) model - similar to the Centrais model - has been under implementation for almost twenty years with very positive results. In addition, the Bank participated in the Family Agriculture Fair organized yearly by the Project, which brings together family farmers, associations, cooperatives and buyers/investors from the private sector; the mission visited Project sites under components 1 and 2; and held meetings in Salvador to have an overview of the Project implementation progress and agree an action plan by the end of the FY19. The status of activities can be summarized as follows: 3/23/2019 Page 1 of 10 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report BRAZIL BAHIA SUSTAINABLE RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (P147157) Component 1 – Socio-environmental and Market-oriented Subprojects. Between 2015 and 2018, in response to the 12 Calls for Expression of Interest, 841 proposals were selected; of these 730 agreements have been signed and are under implementation. The project is prioritizing the implementation of these selected subprojects, strengthening teams, including services providers, to respond faster to the communities’ demands, and implementing electronic systems to accelerate implementation. Component 2 - Household Water and Sanitation. CERB is implementing all efforts to accelerate project implementation, to date they have 97 projects for systems approved by the Bank, of these seven have already been concluded, another 27 initiated, and 25 to start in February. Of the remaining 45, 10 will not be taken place, and the others have issues that have to be resolved before the works start. Component 3 - Institutional Development, Technical Assistance and Project Management. In general, the execution of this component is satisfactory, especially capacity building and communication/ disclosure activities. Overall, project implementation is progressing well, and the technical teams are committed in accelerating implementation even more, especially in regard to disbursement, now that the “buying APP” and the electronic reporting of expenses have been put in place.
