The main results achieved over the last several months include support to the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s (MEF) institutional capacity recovery, and support to the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communications (MTPTC) to carry out: (i) the promotion of best practices for seismic resistant construction; (ii) repairs to two main roads (RN2, RN4) and construction of a new bridge over the Fauché River; (iii) the debris management activities at the Truitier Municipal Landfill are now completed; (iv) CIAT’s (Comité Interministériel d’Aménagement du Territoire) activities for reconstruction Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Report No: ISR13229 planning; (v) a strategy for public financial management completed by MEF. Both components of the project are now firmly on track with a high level of engagement, and the major contracts under the initial loan have been signed and those of the additional financing are in process. The GoH has requested Additional Financing (AF) which the Board of Directors approved on September 27, 2012 for an amount of US$35 million. This Additional Financing will Public Disclosure Copy support (i) governance and capacity building; (ii) continuity of operations of the treatment of debris from the earthquake; (iv) roads to support development of tourism in the northern part of Haiti; (iii) support to the Ministry of public works to handle the reconstruction process. The additional financing has been effective since February 5, 2013.
