Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? An Additional Financing (AF) of US$36 million was declared effective on September 10, 2018. The Closing Date of the Original Project and Additional Financing is June 30, 2025. The Project is on track to achieve the project development objective and is overall progressing well. Disbursements are forecast to reach US$ 20 million (34%) by June 2020. Good progress was observed on all civil works contracts. In total, five subprojects (Togotoi, Kurama, Kyrgyz-Ata, Tolok, and Kyzyl-Tuu) are completed benefiting more than 33,000 people, which is ahead of the interim target for 2019. Two other subprojects (Sultan and Alexeevka) are nearing completion by end December 2019. Nine other subprojects are in various stages of civil works. With ten subprojects under design, a pipeline of civil works for the next construction season is expected to be ready. Design of next batch of nine subprojects 11/28/2019 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (P154778) is ongoing, and further designs will be tendered in January 2020. Measures are taken to reinforce the design review and construction supervision capacity of ARIS in this scale-up phase. Activities under the sanitation and institutional strengthening components are progressing more or less as planned. Investments in School WASH facilities are ahead of targets and good progress is achieved in the implementation of the national M&E system for rural water and sanitation. Overall implementation progress remains moderately satisfactory due to challenges identified with progressing on the national-level sector wide institutional strengthening activities, and - although improving - challenges to ensure a cost-effective and streamlined design process. Regional feasibility study for Gulbaar and Otuz Adyr (including neighbouring villages in the region) will be launched to identify cost-effective solutions for a larger population as originally envisaged.
