The recently released NAfKE Report confirms a significant improvement in learning outcomes in all three grades and in all three curriculum areas. Considering that the improvement of NAfKE results is one of the two project development indicators of ERfKE, the likelihood of a satisfactory closing of the Project is now very high. As far as the World Bank Loan is concerned, the disbursement rate has continued to increase over these past six months, to reach 85 percent to date. This progress is largely attributed to the improved performance in the implementation of the school component and the fact that all planned contracts have been committed. However, it will be critical over the upcoming months and until project closure (on December 31, 2016) to perform a more rigourous monitoring of the physical and financial progress of civil works. 4/14/2016 Page 2 of 18 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Second Education Reform for the Knowledge Economy (P105036) 4/14/2016 Page 3 of 18 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Second Education Reform for the Knowledge Economy (P105036) 4/14/2016 Page 4 of 18 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Second Education Reform for the Knowledge Economy (P105036) Risks Systematic Operations Risk-rating Tool Risk Category Rating at Approval Previous Rating Current Rating Political and Governance  --  Moderate  Moderate Macroeconomic  --  Moderate  Moderate Sector Strategies and Policies  --  Moderate  Moderate Technical Design of Project or Program  --  Moderate  Moderate Institutional Capacity for Implementation and Sustainability  --  Moderate  Moderate Fiduciary  --  Moderate  Moderate Environment and Social  --  Moderate  Moderate Stakeholders  --  Moderate  Moderate Other  --  --  -- Overall  --  Moderate  Moderate Results Project Development Objective Indicators PHINDPDOTBL  Increase in scores on national assessments aligned with knowledge economy skills (Text, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Grade 5: Math: 29.9, Grade 5: Math: 31.6, An average Grade 5: Math: 29, Science: 47.7, Arabic: Science: 45.5, Arabic: increase Science: 50, Arabic: 60 - 40.6; Grade 9: Math: 37.8; Grade 9: Math: between year 4 Grade 9: Math: 39, Value 36.4; Science: 40.3, 37.0; Science: 40.9, & year 6 of 1 Science: 46, Arabic: 55 Arabic: 44.9; Grade 11: Arabic: 32.4; Grade 11: score points for Grade 11; Math: 29, Math: 29.7; Science: Math: 30.6; Science: Math, Science Science: 41, Arabic: 61 36.2; Arabic: 50.8 30.5; Arabic: 48.8 and Arabic Date 01-Jun-2008 26-Jul-2015 08-Feb-2016 31-Dec-2016 4/14/2016 Page 5 of 18 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Second Education Reform for the Knowledge Economy (P105036) Comments Results achieved as per NAfKE 2014 compared to the baseline of 2011.
