This will be accomplished through the expanded adoption of non-mandatory low GHG-emitting waste management technologies as part of sector modernization anticipated under the Clean Water Act and the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act. Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project? About 8,000 CERs are expected to be delivered by the end of 2014. Despite the reduction in contracted CERs (the original ERPA was for 250,000 CERs) and the failure to commission the planned landfill activities, the project has helped significantly reduce actual (but not yet verified) emissions by participating pig farms. More importantly, it has helped the Coordinating/Managing Entity (Land Bank of the Philippines, LBP) to build capacity, improve business practices, better manage its Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)) operations, and expand the Page 1 of 4 The World Bank Report No: ISR15670 number of pig farms and landfills committed to adopting low GHG technologies. These steps have built the foundation for possible contracting of up to 3.5 million CERs under new ERPAs.
