Another factor that 10/8/2019 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Education Modernization Project (P153496) contributed to the delay was a number of changes MOES wanted to introduce under the project in order to align to the new priorities in its State Program. The project regained momentum following a joint implementation review in September 2019 between the World Bank and MOES during which agreement was reached for the government commitment to implementing the project, the changes to be introduced and the concrete steps to speed up implementation while completing the project restructuring as per the government and World Bank operating procedures. Key actions agreed on during the mission that are expected from the government: a) coordinate with MOF the internal government approval of the proposed changes to the project and submit an official request via MOF for the proposed restructuring to the Bank by the end of October; b) reactivate the procurement process to speed up selection of consultant services underway, and launch the preparation of tender documents for the goods to be procured in accordance with the updated procurement plan; and c) ensure timely disbursement of the PIU salaries.
