The project will be closing by the end of December 2018, and utmost efforts are made to ensure maximum completion of the ongoing works by the closing date. The commitment rate of contracts is 100%. Out of 18 contracts, 4 have been retendered and awarded successfully. The disbursement rate increased from 56% in April 2018 to 81 % in October 2018 and 91% in December 2018. The special measures suggested by the Bank team regarding the management of the Special Account between the Ministry and HCWW, the payment of compensations to contractors and timely payments of contractors invoices led to the disbursement of an amount of US$29 million in FY19. 12/18/2018 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Second Integrated Sanitation and Sewerage Project - EG (P120161) 2. Construction of wastewater infrastructure systems (Components A and B) is underway in selected villages in the Governorates of Menoufia, Sharkia, Assiut and Sohag including wastewater treatment plants, collection networks, household connections and treatment systems. The scope of the works includes about 25 villages in 11 clusters. The overall physical progress is 75% and is expected to reach 90% by the closing date. However, in the governorates of Assiut and Sohag, works will not be fully achieved by March 2019. 3. The project has provided support to HCWW (Component C) in project implementation, monitoring & evaluation and management, including construction supervision and environmental management services. It includes project management support, Implementation of the Environmental & Social Management & Monitoring Framework (ESMMF), preparing Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for all phases of the project, training to PIU and RSUs' staff on all aspects of project implementation. During the field visits, the mission noted substantial progress made by the PIU and the WSCs in the close monitoring of the social and environmental issues. 4. Support to Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities (MHUUC) Project Management Unit (Part D): The project supported the PMU on different areas including hiring individual Consultants, payment of operating costs and purchasing equipment for the day to day operation of the PMU. The PMU has submitted a revised procurement plan with new activities related to the development of a unified M&E system, twinning arrangement with Netherland utilities, studies on EWRA, HR support to WSCs. It is noted that all the activities that will fall beyond the loan closing date will be funded by the government.
