This update is based on the outcome of the implementation support mission conducted in Sana’a from October 20-31, 2013 and subsequent monitoring of follow up with key agreed-upon actions and next steps up to the end of December 2013. 2. Since the previous ISR of July 2013, and after a year and half of effectiveness, implementation progress remains slower than expected. The Project Support Unit (PSU) has now Public Disclosure Copy completed its thorough review of the project's design along with an assessment of lessons learned from similar biogas operations in Yemen. As a result of this process, only minor adjustments have been recommended to project activities and its investment plan, and are mainly to replace the construction of two technical centers deemed no longer needed, with the installation of additional household biogas digesters in ten selected villages across the governorates of Al-Mahweet and Al-Hodeidah. With the strengthening of the PSU’s technical and operational capacity underway, it is expected that the pace of implementation will accelerate in the coming months to restore satisfactory performance toward meeting the project objectives.
