Incremental efforts for the implementation of the Regional Climate Knowledge Service Component (in particular on the information platform and climate-related monitoring systems sub-components) have are noted; however, they still need further acceleration in order to to complete the on-going and planned activities by the project closing date. A key highlight for the implementation of the regional component during this time-period is the visit of the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to Almaty in July 2019. 12/24/2019 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin CAMP4ASB (P151363) As for the Climate Investment Facility Component, the progress continues to advance with the disbursement rates of 77% in Tajikistan and 97% in Uzbekistan. As of November 2019, the project covered 32,326 beneficiaries, including 17,476 women in Tajikistan and 628 beneficiaries in Uzbekistan, including 281 women. The preparation of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Additional Financing is progressing, and the Bank team is now in the process of negotiations with the GCF. The Grant has not been operationalized yet though, due to on-going negotiations between the Bank and GCF on Implementing Agency Agreement and related legal Comments: provisions. Over the reporting period, on the basis of the CAMP4ASB additional resources have been mobilized in support of resilient landscapes of Central Asia. This includes WAVES+ grant for Uzbekistan and PROFOR grant in Tajikistan. 12/24/2019 Page 2 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin CAMP4ASB (P151363) IN00789491 ►Cooperative action resulting in the financing of investments that require collaboration across countries (e.g., transboundary investment or multi-country coordination of national policies) (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 2.00 Date 28-Apr-2016 17-Jun-2019 30-Nov-2019 27-Apr-2021 Indicator not expected to pick up before Yr 4 of implementation. Thus, as direct beneficiaries for this project would be considered: 1. people receiving regional and nation training; 2. beneficiaries of credit lines (and their families); 3. People benefitting from jobs created by the project. Based on this definition, actual and Comments: planned beneficiaries of training and subprojects (assuming that each subproject benefits a family of 10 people and people employed by the subproject), the expected number of direct beneficiaries is estimated to be around 50,000, and the target would be revised downward. The project has financed a lot of subprojects that resulted in adoption of new technologies for climate smart agriculture and not in number of ha covered by Comments: sustainable land and water management technologies. Thus, the target of number of hectares will be adjusted to 10,000 ha and a new intermediate results indicator related to climate smart technology adoption will be added.
