The project development objective is to improve basic education service delivery and retention in targeted schools. This is the sixth ISR since the Project became effective. This ISR includes findings from the mid-term review mission carried out in November- December 2018. The ratings for progress towards achievement of the project development objective (PDO) and overall implementation progress 1/3/2019 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Lesotho Education Quality for Equality Project (P156001) (IP) are moderately satisfactory due to some delays of activities in primary schools. The project has disbursed 54 percent of the total credit amount (US$14 million of a total credit of US$25 million). Component 1 is progressing moderately satisfactorily: training of primary school teachers is delayed but all of the activities targeting junior secondary schools are on track and the expected results for 2018 have been achieved. Component 2 is progressing satisfactorily with results exceeding the yearly targets for 2018 with 377 school boards trained, 326 SIPs approved, and 374 school report cards submitted by schools. Component 3 is progressing moderately satisfactorily. There have been delays in managing the studies but the results of the baseline studies are finally available.
