For Part 1 on improving access to school, the emergency operation called “Back to school� was completed inJuly 2011 and 2,824 schools received compensation grants to cover teacher salaries from the project. The surplus of fundsallocated to "Back to school" have been used to support the implementation of the Government policy for a free and compulsory basiceducation, by financing an estimated 83,000 students under the tuition waiver program for the 2011-2012 school year. Under thePart 2, the project continues financing the school nutrition and health program now about 45,000 students for the 2011-2012 schoolyear. The request for the Second Grant for Haiti is expected to be submitted to the GPE by early March 2013. The GPE approved on July 31, 2012 a Grant in the amount of US$129,500 for the preparation of a Priority Action Plan by the Government of Haiti.
