All major works completed started to show visible benefits to local communities, with an estimate of nearly 400,000 persons as directly beneficiaries of the project. Particularly, it was reported that during the recent heavy rains in October 2019, there was no major flooding in 11/7/2019 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Zanzibar Urban Services Project (P111155) the neighborhoods where the project has completed drainage works. There has been an encouraging increase of the disbursement rate of ZUSP in the past months, yet a remaining 30% of total project financing is yet to be disbursed. Given that the project closing date is in 8 months, it is critical that the PMT and all other concerned stakeholders need to make all efforts to expedite all the ongoing works and consultancies so that all project activities can be completed before the closing date (June 30, 2020).
