The percentage of institutions with academic autonomy is 62 against a target of 70 and the share of programs that are accredited or awaiting accreditation is 52 against a target of 55. The percentage of faculty with at least an MTech is 87.8 against a target of 88 and the number of master and PhD. students enrolled is 44,549 (academic year 2013-14) against a target of 41,000. Likewise, progress against intermediate outcome indicators is satisfactory, with a number of indicators already surpassing their targets. The overall Implementation Progress is rated as “Moderately Satisfactory”. The project has effectively carried out the third institutional performance assessment of all TEQIP institutes based upon their performance on twelve key parameters. It has been recommended that additional funds may be allocated to well-performing institutions. In addition, it has been recommended to remove consistently low-performing institutions from the project if progress is not made by March 31, 2015 against key parameters which should have been met by October 2014. Furthermore, a set of revised performance benchmarks will be communicated to all institutions to be met by April 30, 2015.
