The environment component is progressing well in terms of air quality monitoring through eleven Continuous Air Monitoring Station (CAMS), of which five have already been handed over to the Department of Environment (DoE) and are run by DoE regular staff, instead of project staff. The project continues to publish Air Quality Index (AQI) on its website (www.case-moef.gov.bd). However the brick kiln piloting is suffering from further delays; only three brick kilns piloting have been completed and another one almost completed. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) are continuing to maintain a steady progress in ongoing contracts since last mission March, 2014. Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR16124 Work contracts on Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), sidewalk, intersections, and signal installation are completing works generally as per the expected schedule. DNCC and DSCC are also working closely with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for effective use of the newly installed signals from November 2014. Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) continues to make satisfactory progress in the implementation of this component. The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Feasibility Study has Public Disclosure Copy been completed, and the ongoing Detailed Design Study is providing key inputs for the preparation of Dhaka BRT project.
