For example, Uzpromstroy Bank has disbursed US$24.6 mln (50 percent of its allocation) to finance the replacement of a 20-year old production line at Tashkent Pipe plant. The enterprise is the largest private steel pipe producer in the country. The total project cost is US$92 mln, and a Chinese Bank and Tashkent Pipe co-financed the investment with US$10 mln and US$57 mln respectively. The investment will create 132 high-paying jobs, improve production capacity to 500,000 tons per year from 150 000 tons per year, and reduce gas consumption to 4.2 mln m3/year from 6.6 mln m3/year.
