The two main activities are spot improvement of about 40 km of rural roads under national competitive bidding and provision of 10 prefabricated metallic bridges (130 meters’ total length) under international competitive bidding. However for the past 4-5 months, the civil works could not progress according to plan because of the unusual heavy rainy season in forest Guinea. A bank consultant is permanently supervising the project in the field. His inputs and a desk reviews based on 2 video-conferences have informed this ISR. 12/15/2017 Page 1 of 5 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report GN-Rural Roads Emergency Improvement Project (P156557) The team will also help the Government amend the 2 contracts signed with the to introduce the standard contractual clauses related to GBV ( Gender Based Violence), VAC ( Violence Against Children) and code of conduct of construction workers. Furthermore the team will ask the client to finance public awareness campaign in the project area to address the issues mentioned above. The bank received an official letter from the Government of Guinea asking for 4 months extension of the closing date. By anticipation, the task team and the Borrowers have agreed on actions to be undertaken to complete the Project by June 30,2018. The actions are mainly monitoring the progress of the civil works. The package for a level II structuring will be ready for clearance and signature by December 13, 2017. An implementation support mission including work sites visit is tentatively scheduled for end of January 2018. This risk will be mitigated by asking for monthly progress report, monthly video-conference and also implementation support mission. These mitigation measures are effectively implemented. A monthly progress report was received this month of November 2017 and 2 video-conferences already took place. An implementation support mission including work sites visit is tentatively scheduled for end of January 2018.
