The AF will scale up the impact from 549,000 beneficiaries to 1,200,000 beneficiaries for new or improved water supply services and provide access to improved water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for 90,000 students. The AF also allowed for a restructuring of the parent project, which involve revisions to the project legal name, PDO and Results Framework to reflect the scaled-up and additional activities, as well as an extension of the project closing date by 22 months, with the revised closing date on April 30, 2024. The Financing Agreement of the AF and the restructuring agreement of the parent project were signed on July 23, 2019 and the effectiveness of the AF is expected by October 21, 2019. The parent project is progressing satisfactorily in line with the initial schedule and financial projections. Civil works are progressing smoothly in the eight cities targeted by the parent project. Their completion will allow the kick-off of the social connection campaign. Institutional studies have been finalized and recommendations and action plan to guide the sector reform going forward are to be approved by the Minister of Hydraulics.
