This will be done by: (i) providing additional funding at school, district and provincial levels, as well as strengtheningoverall capacity to manage these resources to achieve minimum education quality standards and (ii) enhancing the teaching and learning environment in schools through improved teaching practices, instructional resources and analytical products to support early grade literacy. Key drivers for the delays have been the limited internal coordination and technical leadership of MoES departments in charge of GPE II. Limited progress has been made to prepare the grounds for the launch of the key project activities. There is limited knowledge about the Project among staff of the technical departments that are responsible for the implementation of the specific activities under the Project. The Bank will intensify GPE II implementation support through frequent (bi-monthly or monthly, depending on the needs) thematic implementation support visits, complemented by just-in-time virtual meetings between technical teams of the MoES and the WB.
