Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? No PHRPDODEL Components Name Comp. A. The activities (a) and (c) were financed from European Commission co-funding and were completed satisfactorily before its closing date in 2010. The other two activities have been financed from the counterpart financing from Kazakhstan. Civil works for the physical remediation works for the high priority industrial waste dumps have started as of April 2013. Works at the Kazzinc and the Power Plant dumps under the Project are complete and being handed over. At the capacitor sludge pond, all PCB contaminated water have been treated in accordance with the Kazakh drinking water standards, sludge has been stabilized and covering of the whole area is ongoing. The remediation of the waste dumps at Titanium Magnesium Plant finally started and significant progress has been made in remediation of the dump. Budget allocations for 2015 still also require management attention in order not to delay the works and project implementation. 2/21/2016 Page 2 of 7 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Ust-Kamenogorsk Environmental Remediation Project (P078342) Risks Systematic Operations Risk-rating Tool Risk Category Rating at Approval Previous Rating Current Rating Political and Governance  --  Moderate  Moderate Macroeconomic  --  Low  Substantial Sector Strategies and Policies  --  Low  Low Technical Design of Project or Program  --  Moderate  Moderate Institutional Capacity for Implementation and Sustainability  --  Moderate  Moderate Fiduciary  --  Substantial  Moderate Environment and Social  --  Substantial  Substantial Stakeholders  --  Substantial  Substantial Other  --  --  -- Overall  --  Substantial  Moderate Results Project Development Objective Indicators PHINDPDOTBL  Reduce level of heavy metals & other hazardous pollutants in groundwater, thereby reducing risk of contamination of city's soil & groundwater system, drinking water wells, & surface water of Irtysh.
