The administrative procedure for the restructuring process that was approved in February 2012 was finalized. Through this restructuring, 2,500 people affected by recent shocks in the region of Tahoua received their initial cash payments. These populations will continue to benefit from the intervention for an additional ten months. Meanwhile, the safety nets system is being established, and registration and targeting is ongoing in the region of Dosso and Maradi, where the startup phase of the intervention is being implemented. These will be deployed by end of 2012 • The cash for work and the accompanying measures manuals will be submitted to the World Bank for Non objection by end of November 2012 • It was agreed that the accompanying measures would be structured in 2 modules: (i) behavioral changes-- which will include essential family practices, nutritional education, and child stimulation and protection; and (ii) community mobilization • Payments of beneficiaries in Dosso will start in December 2012 and in Maradi in January 2013 • Cash for work activities will benefit mostly areas with populations affected by the 2012 floods, and will start by end of January 2013 •The Annual Work Plan and Budget for the year 2013 will be elaborated and submitted to the Bank for Non Objection in November 2012 • The procurement plan for 2012 will be updated and submitted to the Bank for non objection. In addition, a procurement plan for the year 2013 will be prepared • The technical audit of the starting phase of the cash transfer is scheduled to begin after the first payment expected to take place before the end of December 2012 • The Safety Nets Unit will take the lead on organizing a national forum on social protection scheduled to be held in early 2013.
