The Project Development Objective is rated as “Satisfactory” The percentage of faculty with at least an MTech is 86.7 against a target of 88 and the number of master and PhD. students enrolled is 40,781 against a target of 41,000. The percentage of institutions with academic autonomy is 61 against a target of 70 and the share of programs that are accredited or applied for accreditation is 46 against a target of 55. The overall Implementation Progress of the progress is rated as “Moderately Satisfactory”. The project has been effectively carrying out institutional performance assessment of all TEQIP institutes based upon their performance on certain key parameters. It has been recommended that further releases be made to only those institutions which have met the parameters, as notified to institutions previously. Further, it has been agreed that additional funds will be made available to well-performing institutions. Well-performing institutions are those that meet the eligibility criteria set forth in the Project Implementation Plan (PIP), and in addition meet the following: (i) all performance standards have been met as notified to institutions; (ii) have autonomy from the relevant authority; and (iii) can document expenditure of at least 65 percent of their total initial allocation.
