Component 1 of the project aims to improve employment outcomes of the short term training program of the Government of Sindh (GoSindh) through the use of performance contracts with training providers. Preparation for the next phase of training, expected to be launched in beginning May 2013 is in advanced stages. Short term training of close to 7,500 trainees participating in the next round will be financed by the project. Under the second component of the project, an additional 19 programs (for a total of 70) have been competitively selected to receive funds from the Institution Development Fund. Institute Management Committees (IMCS) with private sector representation have been notified for each of these institutes. There was a high level of engagement with the principals in development of Page 1 of 5 The World Bank Report No: ISR10270 proposals; several workshops were held to guide the development of high quality proposals to demonstrate linkages with the market demand for skills. Evaluation of proposals to select a firm that will provide technical assistance for upgradation of these programs, including curricula development is currently underway.
