Construction of the two new branch offices (Dessie and Adama) are being closely monitored by the project team. Below is detailed project progress per each component. Component 1: Organizational and Infrastructure Capacity Development in the NSS: Major achievements of activities under component 1’s infrastructure development are as follows: 6/19/2019 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Ethiopia Statistics for Results Project (P147356)  Four branch offices in Mekelle, Hawassa, Bahir Dar and Ambo are fully operational, and the CSA has received all four branch office buildings. They provide CSA with new services, including training rooms, mini-data centers, and IT kiosks for the storage of statistical information; mini-libraries; and space to accommodate additional staff.  100 laptop computers and 400 desktop computers procured and provided for CSA head office and branch offices.  Seven vehicles purchased to support field and office works at CSA head office and branch offices.  Office furniture (chairs, tables, shelves etc.) procured for CSA HQ and Branch Offices.  IT training room has been set up and in use at CSA HQ for training of CSA. CSA staff trained (from 25 branch offices) on basic computer skills, statistical software packages and financial software’s like IBEX.  Construction of conference hall and renovation of CSA HQ library are at completion stage with overall construction completion status at 99%. Remaining works include small finishing works, fixing of electro mechanical equipment, and construction of retaining wall.  Renovation of training center at HQ is almost completed at 99% construction status. Remaining works include fixing of audiovisual materials and data networking systems which are under procurement process.  Construction of the two new branch offices (Dessie and Adama) is ongoing and is under close supervision to ensure the buildings are handed-over and functional by end of June 2019. The mission team met with the construction consulting engineers, contractors and CSA project teams and agreed to sign Memorandum of Understanding on a supervision plan that will monitor progress on construction activities to finish the construction works as per the contract terms.  4,229 individuals from CSA branch offices and NSS members participated in short term local trainings in the area of basic computer, sampling technique, survey methodology, financial software, procurement, statistical software, finance and auditing, etc. About 1,221 (29%) of trainees are female.  174 individuals from CSA Head Office, branch offices, National Planning Commission and Vital Events Registration Agency participated in various short-term overseas trainings and experience sharing visits in the area of GIS, data quality & management, poverty analysis, IT, fishery statistics, national account etc. About 21 (12%) of participants were female.  4,403 individuals (3161 males and 1242 females) benefited from various short term local and overseas trainings and experience sharing visits.  More than 40 staffs from CSA head office and branch offices have been supported to attend their 2nd degree in government universities of the country.  Selected CSA staff attended a technical visit for experience sharing in Mexico in August 2018. Component 2: Statistical Data Development and Management:  The project is supporting data development through technical assistance. The Parent project provided support to: agriculture surveys through the procurement of 2300 digital weighting scale and 2300 measuring taps; the Population and Housing Census pilot survey by introducing Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) tablets encouraging CSA to use CAPI for the coming fourth round Population & Housing Census; and the first phase of the Business Register has been developed while the second phase is ongoing under the AF. Through various consultancy services Gender Time Use In-depth analysis, Welfare Monitoring Survey; Household Consumption Expenditure Survey; rebasing of the National Accounts and the Consumer Price Index and the development of the consumer price data base have been supported. Cartography and GIS departments have been supported through the procurement of 4 GPS Enabled data loggers, 200 memory cards, Arc GIS software and 400 solar panels. Data dissemination has been supported through media, publishing of survey reports, meetings and workshops. For example, the project supported the release of the 2016 Demographic and Health Survey findings, the African Statistical Day, and the Ethiopian Statistical Association’s annual conference, and Microsoft Products have been procured, configured, deployed, tested and currently under operation. Component 3: Statistical Methodology, Standards and Data Quality Assurance and Information Dissemination: Three User Satisfaction Surveys have been conducted, CSA has been rebranded and CSA website is at the final stage as well as CSA library is being upgraded and digitized. As part of its statistical sensitization activities, the project supported the CSA to organize the 13th African Symposium on Statistical Development. Communication teams also regularly sensitize statistical activities on TV spots, banners, bloc notes and CSA newsletters. Component 4: Project management. The project management activities are implemented smoothly.
