TheBoard approved an Additional Financing totaling SDR 5.2 million (US$8 million equivalent) through an IDA Credit and IDA Grant onNovember 3, 2009. The Additional Financing was declared effective on August 20, 2010 and on June 13, 2011 the project wasrestructured to extend the Closing Date to December 31, 2012. Implementation performance continues to be good and the project hassurpassed most of its project performance indicators. Only 22 microprojects remain to be completed. Implementation of the US $1million retrofitting sub-component has encountered some delays but an initial list of 22 priority micro-projects Page 1 of 4 The World Bank Report No: ISR7867 (primarilyschools, health centers and kindergartens) has now been agreed upon and the retrofitting process can start on the basis of thedetailed design estimates available. As a result of the project, approximately 2.38 million people in 1,698 villages have accessto improved social and economic infrastructure. A new Additional Financing is presently under preparation to address constructiondeficiencies in bridges and water supply systems financed before 2009, as the funding available under the present AdditionalFinancing is insufficient.
