Theproposed IDF project would support capacity building and technical assistance activities of the newly created CFDA. This support would contribute to improving national food safety tools, promoting coordination amongst food regulators and ensuring clear interpretation, and enforcement of food safety standards. CFDA proposes to make use of the saved project funds to develop capacity building plan for the ministry as a whole. Meanwhile, CFDA reaffirms that it will continue to implement Component 3 Food Safety strategy plan development for CFDA, Component 4 International Conference of Food Safety Inspection and Supervision System; and Component 5 Synthesis report. In light of these, the CFDA would like to submit through the Ministry of Finance (MOF) the request for extension of the project by one year until July 30,2018. The project extension request has been made to MOF for further processing. Once it is approved by MOF and Bank, the Bank team will work with the CFDA team to prepare the technical details of the newly proposed activities.
