The Tamil Nadu EPRP has expanded its coverage from 2,500 Village Panchayats (580,000 target households) to 4,170 villages (960,000 households) through an additional financing credit that became effective in February 2011. Over 36,000 new Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed by the project with a particular focus on the inclusion of the poorest women, differently-abled, tribal and most backward communities. The total number of SHGs (new and existing) supported by the project is now over 100,000. These SHGs are supporting income generation, skills development and employment creation, and have increased linkages to banks. In addition, almost 4,200 Common Livelihood Groups (CLGs) have been formed to support livelihood activities – around 45% of CLGS are related to dairy sector - in terms of productivity and value- Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Report No: ISR13682 addition, input prices and product markets.
