The financing agreement was signed in Washington on April 9, 2019 by both the Minister of Finance and the Country Director. The project agreement was signed on April 22, 2019 and the project became effective on July 9th, 2019. For the project to be gender tagged, a new intermediary results indicator was added to monitor the project’s impact on employment of women in management positions. The project was therefore restructured (level 2), immediately after its effectiveness. Significant efforts are being made to finalizing the procurement process of the civil works and the supervision consultancy services. Both bid evaluation reports are being finalized and contract awards is expected in the coming weeks. Most of the ToRs related to the project institutional strengthening activities are being finalized. 12/13/2019 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Sao Tome e Principe Transport Sector Development and Coastal Protection Project (P161842) With the support of GRSF TF, a road safety strategy and an action plan are prepared and discussed in a high-level workshop on December 10th, 2019.
