Support continues to be provided in parallel to the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project that was approved in December 2014. The engineering studies and the environmental and social assessment are ongoing. The contract for the Transaction Advisors has been concluded and the consultants appointed to support the Zambezi River Authority. A Panel of Experts for Dam safety, as well as for Environment and Social, have been appointed by the Zambezi River Authority under the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project. The scope of work for the PoE includes that for the Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme and the PoE will continue to review the outputs and advise ZRA. The contract for the Dam Break Analysis has been negotiated but will be included under the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project with the additional resource availability allowing for the full scope analysis of all scenarios.
