To catch up with the delay that occurred between project approval and effectiveness, the project’s procurement and implementation plans were promptly revised to accelerate project activities. Consequently, the phase II ten districts began implementing project activities in addition to the first phase five districts. Fiduciary verification exercises in all the 15 districts (phase I & II) were gradually completed by March 2017 in accordance with the project design, which was a prerequisite for funds flow to the districts. Upon eligibility, the first 10 districts received funds and they are on the right track to implement the project activities. Additional activities are in progress in the last set of 5 phase II districts to receive funds and to fulfil the community engagement requirements. The local governments in the five pilot districts are on the right track to implement the project activities. Subsequent to the project orientation workshop and district Training of Trainers (TOT), a three-day long workshop on African Indigenous Vegetables (AIVs) was organized for the Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) in August 2016. The Project is now focusing on utilization of funds at district, primary school and community levels.
