Progress is being made in building the animation industry through the provision of training, hardware / software and the hosting of the third installation of the KingstOOn Animation Festival held from April 5 to 7, 2019. The training and apprenticeship in document management and digitization program is improving self-esteem and developing a culture of positive work ethics in the youths. As of July 2019, 5525 participants completed training. Some participants have gained permanent employment in entry level positions while others have received an extension in the duration of their apprenticeship assignment. The National Innovation Awards held on November 21, 2018, surpassed the 50% target for increase in participation in the awards. Consultations were held with 115 stakeholders to inform the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Green Paper. On 12th August 2019, GOJ requested an 18 months extension of the closing date to July 31, 2021. The extension is required to complete activities which are critical for the achieve the indicator targets and the sustainability of the project.
