Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? As of mid-November 2018, a total of 49,865 women and girls from extremely poor households in Zambia have benefitted from the project. This number is halfway from its end target of 89,000 beneficiaries. The Supporting Women’s Livelihoods (SWL) component (Component 1) has reached 33,626 beneficiaries in 20 additional districts and 11 existing districts, which is close to half the target of 75,000. The Keeping Girls in School (KGS) component (Component 2) has exceeded the target for the number of girls for whom school fees would be paid, with fees having been paid for 16,239 students in Term 2 of 2018 against its target of 14,000 by September 2020. In addition, some intermediate result indicators have also exceeded initial end targets such as the number of community based volunteers trained as trainers (1,567 that is more than doubled the original end target) and close to 100 percent share of women who complete the livelihood training (against an end target of 70 percent). There is no data yet regarding beneficiaries satisfaction 12/21/2018 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Girls Education and Womens Empowerment and Livelihood Project (P151451) with both SWL and KGS program because the corresponding Management Information Systems (MIS) are currently under development. The indicator "Direct project beneficiaries" and its sub-indicator of "female beneficiaries" could not be mapped accordingly because they measure overall PDO achievements (combining results from Component 1 and 2). Upon consultation with OPCS, the guidance received on November 30 (#INC000013721991) is to delete the PDO Indicator "Direct project beneficiaries" (and its sub-indicator) in the ISR where the results are already covered in the two custom PDO indicators "Number of Women who receive support for improved livelihoods" and "Number of Girls supported by the project who enroll in secondary school". OPCS further clarified that the "Direct project beneficiaries" used to be a mandatory indicator and this is no longer the case in results framework. As per OPCS guidance, the task team is noting this deletion accordingly in this ISR submission.
