The project is comprised of two components: (1) a results-based component—Component 1—which provided financing for PESRP II, amounting to US$340 million against achievement of pre-specified disbursement linked indicators (DLIs); and (2) a Technical Assistance (TA) component—Component 2—which finances essential advisory, technical, and capacity-building support for PESRP II, amounting to US$10 million. Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Report No: ISR14728 Under PESRP II, the government is taking the next evolutionary step and zeroing in on improving service delivery performance at the school level in order to realize both meaningful and continuing gains in the outcomes of interest. This has meant a greater focus on improving teacher quality and performance given that, in this context in particular, these factors are virtually synonymous with school quality and performance. Public Disclosure Copy In its first year of implementation, eight of ten DLIs agreed for FY2012/13 were achieved on time. The remaining two DLIs were met satisfactorily by November 2013. Current progress toward achievement of FY2013/14 DLIs is mainly on track. Two DLIs, related to teacher redeployment and provision of girls supplementary girls stipends, are at risk of slipping to the first quarter of the next fiscal year (FY15).
