Broad national consultation and continued support and buy-in from Solomon Island counterparts, particularly the Inter- Ministerial Taskforce on Mining which represents 10 core ministries continues. Work on strengthening the capacity of the mine inspections officials, reforming MMERE’s institutional structure and improving tenement systems is nearing completion. However, the project will need to adhere to a tight timeline to complete all planned activities by project end. New inspection training modules and guidance were deployed at 100% of those inspections.
