Data collection continued for the rest of 2012 and a more detailed report covering January through December 2012 will be available in July 2013. These results cannot be compared to those for previous Labour Force Surveys due to improvements in capturing the informal and agricultural activities of respondents. The Labour Force Survey interviewed 18,100 individuals in Kosovo, including municipalities in the North. The analysis presented below is based on the responses from the 11,809 persons in the LFS sample that were of working age (15 to 64 years), who represent the potential Labour Force in Kosovo. Key Statistics • Of the working age persons interviewed, 36.8% are economically active – this means they are either employed or unemployed and looking for work. • Among those who are economically active, 35.1% are unemployed. This is the Official Unemployment Rate for Kosovo for 2012 (first half). • In the LFS sample, 63.2% of those who are working age are economically inactive. These people are students, housewives and other people who are not actively looking for work. • Of the entire working age population (those both economically active and inactive), 23.9% of people are employed.
